Buying a home pressure

City home buying pressure is a proxy, not a listings database. It estimates a purchase price from the selected home-size rent and a conservative rent-to-buy multiplier, then divides it by the monthly lifestyle amount you entered. Taxes, mortgage rates, deposits, renovation, neighborhood, building quality, and legal costs are not included.

City mode uses latest monthly USD estimates for a comfortable single-person lifestyle. The match scales your amount by the two cities' total monthly cost, then converts back to your starting currency. Home size adjusts only the rent part; researched bedroom rents are used where we have them, otherwise a conservative fallback curve fills the gaps. Real rent can swing a lot by neighborhood, building, and lease timing, so treat this as a relocation sanity check, not a personal budget. Breakdown rows show the known monthly category estimates for each city. Other is the remaining part of the matched lifestyle amount: small daily purchases, coffee, clothes, imported goods, untracked extras, and source gaps. Local-currency brackets use latest FX overrides where available (2026-05-07), then fall back to World Bank annual FX.
